Careers & Pathways

At Wollert Secondary College, we are proud to offer a strong and proactive Careers and Pathways program that supports students from Year 7 through to Year 12.

Our College is in a unique and advantageous position, with both a dedicated Careers and Pathways Leader and a Head Start Program Learning Leader working together to guide students in developing the skills, capabilities, and confidence that employers in emerging industries value most. This team also helps students build meaningful industry connections and prepare for life beyond school.

Year 7

Students are guided through the Stages of Career Development Framework, beginning with the “I Discover” stage, where they explore career possibilities and identify their individual strengths, interests, and talents.

Year 8

In Year 8, students continue developing self-awareness, exploring interests, and learning how their strengths connect to future opportunities. As part of this, students complete a “Day in the Life” project, where they research and experience what a typical day looks like in a career of interest. They then present their findings to their peers, helping build communication skills, confidence, and a deeper understanding of potential career pathways.

Year 9

In Year 9, students complete the Morrisby Career Profile, a personalised assessment that helps them understand their skills, interests, and career options. The Morrisby experience also introduces them to goal setting and pathways planning for their senior years.

Year 10

In Year 10, students take part in a dedicated Careers Curriculum that includes Work Experience. This hands-on opportunity allows students to explore real workplaces, gain practical employability skills such as communication, teamwork, and initiative, and make informed decisions about their future study and career pathways.

At Wollert Secondary College, we believe early and ongoing career education is essential. By helping students consider their future pathways from the beginning of secondary school, our staff can design learning programs that align with each student’s aspirations.

Every student develops a Career Action Plan, which is reviewed and refined throughout their time at the College to reflect their evolving goals, skills, and experiences ensuring they leave school confident, capable, and ready for the next step in their journey.
