Wellbeing Initiatives & Education

At Wollert Secondary College, our Connect program aims to support young people to develop well rounded, contributing members of society. This includes:

  • Explicit teaching of positive behaviours
  • Scaffolded goal setting and reflection tools
  • Age-appropriate careers education at all year levels
  • Respectful Relationships education
  • Social emotional learning

Our social emotional education program has been tailored especially for our school and is grounded in the evidence-based Heart-Mind Wellbeing resources, created by the Dalai Lama Centre. The program is dedicated to promoting the social and emotional development of children and youth. We aim to create environments that support the holistic well-being of young people, integrating their emotional, social and academic growth. We teach practical strategies that help students develop happiness, resilience, and emotional wellbeing.

The College also aims to educate families in best supporting their young people, through targeted parent forums and bulletins. Past forums have included sessions on cyber safety, sleep hygiene and teen mental health.
